ABOUT US

OUR VISION
  • Our clearest vision is of the Lord Jesus standing on the mountain giving the Great Commission:  “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’” (Matthew 28:18-20; ESV).

  • We know who we are by holding steadfastly to the Holy Scriptures.  And we affirm the solid affirmations of God’s Word that come through the historic Creeds of the Church and the faithful Reformation insights of Martin Luther and others.  It’s a legacy of Christian Life that continues today and until our Lord comes again, when faith will be sight.  Amen!

WHAT WE DO
  • We seek to grow in faith, hope and love by providing opportunities for God’s people of all ages.  The core of what we do is found in worship, education, fellowship and service.

  • What we do flows from who we are.  At the center of our life together beats the heart of a loving relationship with God and each other, life in the shape of a cross.  We seek to be a truly caring and faithful community, grounded in prayer, mutually building each other up as the body of Christ.

  • This takes practical shape under the guidance of two annual meetings of the congregation, spring and fall, and of our Church Council, which meets monthly and is split into four boards: Elders, Deacons, Trustees and Education.  The focus of each board is specific so that an abundance of ministry is accomplished.  But truly we are all united in the one sacred mission that defines us.

OUR COMMUNITY
  • Founded in 1884, Grace Lutheran Church has served Eaton, OH, and the surrounding region for almost a century and a half.  During that expanse of time the congregation occasionally made changes to enhance Christ’s mission in the community, while always remembering that it’s His mission, seeking to hold fast to the essentials of Christianity.  Society’s challenges come and go.  The Church of Jesus Christ remains steady, like a mighty fortress.

  • Grace is a member congregation of the North American Lutheran Church (The NALC), a denomination that understands itself to be solidly in the tradition of upholding faithful, historic teachings.  The NALC is orthodox in its teaching.  Four areas of focus highlight what this means.  The NALC is: 1) Christ Centered; 2) Mission Driven; 3) Traditionally Grounded; 4) Congregationally Focused.  The denomination understands itself to exist in a posture of service to enhance the on-the-ground missions of Jesus that are the local congregations of Christians who live by the grace of God.

  • Therefore, as a mission center for Christ, Grace Lutheran Church believes that what this world needs most is a renewal of Christian community.  That is our prayer and our invitation to you and all who are seeking a church home.  May the peace of Christ, himself, be with us!

FIND YOUR FAITH

Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30; ESV).
